# Background service

> Changelog for Ve Browser (Background Service)

Part of Ve runs on your Mac and answers your chat, and keeps itself current.

There's nothing for you to do. Ve checks a minute after it starts and every five
hours after that, and only swaps in an update when it isn't mid-answer, so a
reply you're waiting on is never cut off. The check sends which part is asking,
the version you have and your channel. Nothing else.

To see where you are, open `Settings > About Ve` and look for **Components**.

## 1.26.813.1745

2026-08-13

* \[Fix] **Claude subscriptions no longer hit a false rate limit**: On a Claude
Pro or Max subscription, chat could come back rate limited right away, however
little you had used. Chat answers normally again.

## 1.26.812.0142

2026-08-12

* \[Feature] **Ve now updates this part on its own**: Until this release, the
only way to get a newer one was to download a new browser. Now it arrives
quietly while you work, and a fix reaches you the same day it's ready.
* \[Improvement] **Runs on Node 26.5.0**: The runtime underneath was updated in
the same release. It changes rarely, so most updates from here on will leave
it alone and download less as a result.
