# Install Ve

> Download Ve for macOS and open it for the first time.

Ve is a Mac app. There is no web version and no Windows or Linux build yet.

## What you need

| Mac   | Apple silicon, M1 or later |
| macOS | 13 (Ventura) or later      |

<Warning>
  Ve does not run on Intel Macs. The download contains Apple silicon code only,
  so macOS will refuse to open it on an Intel machine whatever version it is
  running.

## Download

  Grab the latest `.dmg` from the releases page. It is around 300 MB.

<Steps>
  <Step title="Open the .dmg">
    Double-click it once it has downloaded.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Drag Ve to Applications">
    Then eject the disk image.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Open Ve">
    From Applications, or from Spotlight.
  </Step>

## Updates

Ve checks for new versions on its own. When one is ready an Update button
appears in the sidebar, and one click installs it. You never need to come back
to the download page.

## What happens next

Ve asks you to sign in before you browse, then offers to bring your old browser
