During setup, Ve offers to bring your old browser across in two steps: your browsing data first, then your saved logins. You can skip either one, and if you skip the picker nothing gets imported at all.

During setup

Ve looks for Chrome, Edge, Brave, Vivaldi, Opera, Arc, Dia and Comet. If you’ve got several profiles, bring over as many as you want. One button selects or clears them all, and Ve imports them together while showing you progress. Ve counts your open tabs during setup so you can see what’s there, but it won’t reopen them, and your cookies don’t come across at this stage either. You can get both afterwards. Your download history comes across as a record of what you downloaded, never the files themselves, and it isn’t capped at 90 days the way browsing history is. Anything still downloading when you left gets skipped.
Signing in never depends on importing. Skip a step, or have one fail on you, and you’ll still reach your workspace.

What travels with your bookmarks

Your bookmarks don’t come over on their own. Everything Ve counts as general browsing data travels with them:
  • Custom search engines
  • Saved addresses
  • Favicons and your reading list
  • Your custom spellcheck dictionary
  • Per-site permissions: notifications, location, camera, microphone, clipboard, motion sensors, MIDI devices, popups, autoplay, sound, images, JavaScript and automatic downloads
Your extensions come too. Ve reinstalls anything you had from the Chrome Web Store by fetching it from the store. Extensions you loaded from disk can’t be reinstalled, so those get skipped. Import again and nothing installs twice.
If there’s a permission or an extension you’d rather not carry across, go through them once the import finishes.

Afterwards, from Settings

Open Settings > General and you’ve got three options: The first is the one worth knowing about. It carries your cookies and site storage, so accounts you were signed into in your old browser stay signed in. Reload any open tabs afterwards to pick those sessions up.

Passwords from a password manager

Ve fills your credentials straight into sites. They stay on your Mac and the AI never sees them. You’ll see 1Password, Bitwarden, Dashlane and LastPass listed during setup, but you can’t import from them directly yet. Passwords you saved in your old browser do come across.
